Breaking News At The University of Oklahoma

At a news conference held today at 2:00 p.m., David Boren announced that he will retire at the end of the 2017-2018 year.

This year marks his 50th year in education. His retirement is contingent on the appointment of his successor.

 




June 30th, 2018 is the date he is expected to step down, however if no successor is appointed at that time, he will continue to serve as President until one is found.

On March 20th it was announced that he had undergone bypass surgery. Boren is 76 years old and has served as President of the University of Oklahoma since 1994.
