Houston QB Greg Ward fumbles out of the end zone while reaching for TD

Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. replaced starter John O’Korn to try and energize a struggling Cougars offense on Thursday night against UCF . Ward led two scoring drives in the fourth quarter, though they both stalled and were finished with Kyle Bullard field goals.

But on the final drive of the game Ward found success scrambling in the open field. After shaking a few UCF defenders, he sprinted toward the end zone along the sideline.

As you can see below, Ward fumbles the ball just before crossing the goal line. The result of the play was a touchback and UCF was able to escape with a 17-12 win.

All of Houston’s points came from kicker Kyle Bullard, who finished 4-for-4 on kicks of 39, 42, 51 and 49 yards. O’Korn completed 12-of-26 passes for 98 yards (3.8 yards per attempt) and threw two interceptions before taking a seat in the third quarter.
