24 hours after Bob Stoops announced his retirement, fans in the SEC already had their sights set on him for one team in particular…..
As far back as June, talk has been circulating around the SEC of what kind of fit Bob Stoops would be as head coach of the Vols if Butch Jones gets fired this season. The rumors have a lot of Tennessee fans hopeful. And why not? Wouldn’t any team jump at the chance at Bob Stoops if presented the opportunity?
But, Bob Stoops’ very abrupt retirement announcement and “it is not in my intention to coach again” statement makes it pretty easy to write off these Tennessee rumors. Or does it……?
Bob’s recent Twitter account activity may raise some eye-brows. Over the last few days Bob has started to follow some high school players that are currently Tennessee commits. He has also followed a few other 2018 top recruits who are, at this point, uncommitted.
The question that begs to be asked is… What reason would Bob Stoops have to start following commits from another conference altogether?
While we won’t have our answer until Coach Jones fate is determined, it’s still an interesting stream of events coming from someone who is actively giving the impression that he wants to “pass” the coaching “baton” and spend more time with his family.
