KD OKC

Kevin Durant Talked OU- Texas while in Dallas for the preseason game against the Mavericks.

“It’s tattooed on me. You already know what I’m going to say,” Durant said about his Longhorns when asked about the Red River Rivalry at Thunder shootaround Friday in Dallas. “I don’t want to offend nobody in Oklahoma. They a little sensitive about that.”

“I hope they lose,” Durant said of the Sooners. “Texas is in my blood right now. But like I said, I don’t want to offend nobody in Oklahoma since I live there.”

Durant also endorsed first-year Texas coach Charlie Strong despite the Longhorns’ 2-3 start.

“I mean, we’re struggling right now,” Durant said. “It’s a new regime, though, man. He’s trying to figure everything out, and I think he’s doing the best thing for the program. He’s getting guys in there that buy into his culture. So I’m rolling with him.”

Durant went on to say he thinks Strong will be able to turn the program around.

“Yeah, I think so,” Durant said. “It’s just a matter of time, man. He’s a great recruiter. Every kid in Texas dreams about going to the University of Texas. Hopefully we turn this thing around quick, man, but sometimes you got to have patience. Charlie’s going to get it right.”

“Oh, no doubt,” Durant said when asked whether he enjoyed last year’s outcome. “Now that it’s game time I’ve got to shut up. I’ve been talking for a whole year. It should be a good one.”

Durant, declined to give a prediction.

“I can’t make those right now,” he said. “We’ll see, though. I’m sure it’s going to be an entertaining game, and hopefully we come out on top.”
