OU entered 2014 with questions about inexperience at running back. That has been quickly answered. The Sooners are averaging 222.8 yards rushing per game, paced by freshman Samaje Perine’s 104.8 yards per game, which leads the Big 12. Keith Ford, OU’s most experienced RB, leads the Big 12 in scoring (six touchdowns) despite missing the West Virginia game. Alex Ross’ 90 yards rushing against Tulsa is the second-highest of the backs this season. The young players are running behind an experienced offensive line, which deserves plenty of credit for early success. OU has 15 rushing TDs (third nationally) and the running backs have not lost a fumble.
